B2B EDI & Application Integration Setup

Enable IFS Cloud to reliably ingest and send data to other business systems — trading partners, HR and payroll platforms, and IT service tools — using the IFS Connect service bus and IFS Cloud projection endpoints.

Why this matters

Manual interfaces are expensive. Bad ones are more expensive.

A B2B EDI or application integration failure does not announce itself. It shows up as delayed orders, duplicate suppliers, payroll out of sync, or a ServiceNow ticket that never reaches the right maintenance planner.

IFS Cloud has the native machinery to prevent this. IFS Connect routes, transforms, and delivers messages; IFS Cloud projection endpoints expose stable OData APIs for create, read, update, and delete operations. The work is configuring the two so they operate as a single, repeatable pipeline — not a collection of scripts that need babysitting.

This engagement sets up that pipeline for one target system or trading partner, with the mapping, validation, error handling, and documentation that let your internal team operate it long-term.

Common Targets

One engagement. One of these three targets.

01

Trading Partner EDI

Exchange X12 or EDIFACT documents with customers and suppliers — purchase orders (850/ORDERS), ship notices (856/DESADV), invoices (810/INVOIC), and order changes. Reduce chargebacks and manual re-entry.

02

HR & Payroll

Sync employee, position, and cost-center data from Workday or Ultipro (UKG) into IFS Cloud. Keep project accounting, procurement approvals, and shop-floor reporting tied to the right people and organizations.

03

IT Service Management

Connect ServiceNow to IFS maintenance and service work orders. Turn service requests into actionable IFS objects and push status, technician assignment, and completion notes back to the requester.

How it works

IFS Connect plus projection endpoints.

IFS Connect is the service bus: it receives messages, applies routing rules, transforms payloads, and delivers them. IFS Cloud projections expose business entities as stable OData REST APIs.

Most production integrations use both. IFS Connect handles the inbound XML file, SFTP drop, or outbound event; projection endpoints handle the precise read or write against IFS Cloud entities such as customers, purchase orders, employees, or work orders.

The engagement designs the connection between the two — envelope and transformer setup in IFS Connect, projection selection and authentication through IFS IAM, field mapping, validation rules, and error routing — so data moves without breaking referential integrity or duplicating transactions.

Scope

What the engagement covers

Four to six weeks. Fixed price assumes one target system or one trading partner with a defined document or API set.

From CA$8,000 fixed.

  • Discovery: message or API requirements, field mapping, and validation rules
  • IFS Connect configuration — routing addresses, routing rules, envelopes, transformers, message queues
  • IFS Cloud projection selection and endpoint setup for stable OData CRUD
  • Authentication through IFS IAM (OAuth 2.0 Client Credentials where required)
  • Inbound/outbound transport — SFTP, file drop, REST, or SOAP as appropriate
  • Duplicate prevention, error handling, retry logic, and operator alerting
  • Testing with sample payloads and end-to-end validation with operations
  • Technical handover document and runbook for internal support
  • 60-day support tail for production issues tied to the delivered logic

The .ai Difference

Senior IFS design, accelerated build.

AI-assisted tooling speeds mapping, transformation, and test-case generation. The architecture — routing, projections, IAM, error handling, and transaction boundaries — is principal-led, because that is what determines whether the integration survives the first month-end.

Next Step

Most integrations start with a 20-minute scoping call.

Bring the target system or trading partner and the business problem. We will define whether the engagement fits, what success looks like, and what you need to provide on your side.
